Makes 5 gallons
Malts:
7.5 lbs Best Malz Pilsner Malt
1.5 lbs Flaked Maize
1.0 lbs German Vienna Malt
Hops:
1.00 oz Hallertauer Mittelfrueh hops (boil 60 min)
1 Tablet Carrageenan (Kick, Whirlfloc, or 1 tsp Irish Moss)
1.00 oz Hallertauer Mittelfrueh hops (boil 30 min)
Yeast:
Imperial L09 Que Bueno Yeast, Dry Yeast Alternative - Lalbrew Diamond Lager, Saflager 34/70
Step by step:
Mash this beer at 148° for 45-60 minutes. Raise temperature of mash to 165°, (called mash-out temperature) then run off 6.5 gallons of wort to begin your 60 minute boil. When wort comes to a boil add 1.0 oz. Mittelfrueh. With 15 minutes remaining add 1 Carrageenan Tablet. With 5 minutes remaining in the boil add 1.0 oz. Mittelfrueh hops.
At the end of the boil cool your wort down to pitch temperature. Transfer to a sanitized fermenter and pitch your yeast. Ferment until desired final gravity has been reached. Bottle or keg as desired.
